Roger McEowen: Motorists and Farmers

December 30, 2016

NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) RFD-TV’s Market Day Report hosts a weekly interview with Roger McEowen, Professor of Agricultural Law and Taxation at the Washburn University School of Law, and an affiliate with the Kansas Farm Bureau.

The topic of this week’s interview: when it comes to the responsibilities of the rural landowner, there’s been controversy over who is responsible to make sure crops and vegetation on their property don’t obscure a motorist’s view on public roadways. Do landowners have a duty to maintain crops and vegetation in a manner that doesn’t block the view of the motoring public? What liabilities might farmers be subject to in this regard? How have these issues played out in recent court cases? Professor McEowen gives his answers to these and other questions in the video above.
