(DES MOINES, IOWA/NASHVILLE, TENN. — March 8th, 2017) This Friday, March 10th at 9:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. CT, “FarmHer,” exclusively on RFD-TV, returns with all new episodes. The first episode out of the gate will feature 22-year-old FarmHer and Iowa native, Lexi Marek from Washington County.

Lexi spent time this past August with the host and founder of FarmHer, Marji Guyler-Alaniz, and the RFD-TV production team during the world-famous Iowa State Fair where Lexi was in her final show pig after a 16-year showing career. It was during that day at the Iowa State Fair that Marji witnessed history in the making and spent time learning about Lexi’s upbringing in agriculture and how it has shaped her into the FarmHer she is today.

“I couldn’t be more proud to get to shine the FarmHer light on Lexi, said Marji Guyler-Alaniz, FarmHer founder and host. “I have had the pleasure of knowing and working alongside this strong, smart, young FarmHer for a few years now and everything about her shines bright. To get to follow her through such an important milestone in her life and to share that with our audience is an honor.”

Lexi is a 6th generation farmer. She is a lover of pigs. She is one of four sisters in her family. She is a senior at Iowa State University and she is currently serving as Miss Greater Des Moines and will be competing soon for Miss Iowa.

“What drew us to Lexi was her deep love for agriculture,” said Raquel Gottsch, Executive Producer of FarmHer on RFD-TV. “At such a young age, she is already making a name for herself as a leader in the agriculture industry. One of my favorite things I heard her say during our interview was regarding her run for Miss Iowa and using that experience to share her passion for agriculture as her platform throughout the competition. And of course, my other favorite quote—if her life could be as good as a pig’s … but you’ll have to watch the episode to see what that means.”

Lexi’s episode on “FarmHer” will not only tell her personal story, but will also follow her throughout the day to show the television audience what exactly goes into showing pigs at a livestock show. From washing to feeding to entering the show ring, the cameras follow Lexi through her final show. And what better way to end a career than to watch Lexi win Grand Champion with her final pig, Phillip, who sold for $53,000 during the Sale of Champions, breaking the all-time species record at the Iowa State Fair.

About FarmHer:

FarmHer was founded in 2013 to change the image of agriculture, depicting women taking an active role in the industry through photographs and by sharing their stories. It quickly became clear that women in agriculture not only appreciated FarmHer, but they needed it. And they asked for more. Today, FarmHer has grown into much more than just a gallery of images; it is changing the way people perceive a farmer. Through an online community, events, and a weekly TV show, FarmHer continues to update the image of agriculture to include women. Women are rising to the forefront of agriculture and FarmHer is excited to be a driving force behind this effort. Learn more at FarmHer.com.
