Virginia Peanuts are produced in several states including its namesake. This nut is the largest of all peanuts and accounts for about 15 percent of total U.S. production. According to the Virginia Farm Bureau, this “ballpark” peanut is making a comeback in the old dominion. The National Peanut Board says “Virginias” are a popular peanut used for all-natural peanut butter. Peanuts are considered “zero-waste” plants, meaning that no part of the plant goes to waste. They have the ability to improve soil quality and benefit other crops.
