Ex-MLB pitcher Mark Mulder won his record third-straight championship at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament this weekend. The former St. Louis Cardinal earned $125,000 at the Edgewood Tahoe golf course after shooting 72, 69 and 69 on the -72 par course.

“My three kids think this is the tournament where they get to run on the green,’' Mulder told the Associated Press. ''It’s really cool that I was able to back that up. I didn’t want to disappoint them.’'

Mulder faced tough competition from a variety of professional athletes, actors, and musicians. Former tennis pro Mardy Fish and ex-MLB pitcher Derek Lowe tied for second, while current NBA phenomenon Stephen Curry took fourth.

Hosted on the south shore of scenic Lake Tahoe, the American Century Championship is a relaxed, three-day event allowing celebrities to interact with fans and each other. Basketball and football antics often entertain the crowds as does the occasional impromptu dance party. The annual tournament has raised over $4 million for charity with the majority of the money going to the Stowers Institute for Medical Research as well as other regional Lake Tahoe non-profits.
