NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) Since 1944 The National Safety Council (NSC) has been raising awareness on safety issues in rural communities. Today, agriculture is still ranked as one of the most dangerous industries in America. However, the NSC has been organizing the National Farm and Ranch Safety and Health Week to address safety issues in agriculture and offer solutions to safety concerns.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2015 there were 401 farmers and farm workers who died from work-related injuries. On average about 100 agricultural workers suffer a lost-work-time injury per day.

The 2017 National Farm and Ranch Safety and Health Week is September 17–23. For more information on safety in agriculture visit the National Education Center for Agriculture Safety’s website.
