NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) Farmers in a local community often form their own farm supply business – a cooperative – to secure a dependable source of products needed for their operations. A typical state might have dozens of such local co-ops.

But a farmer's involvement with the local co-op extends beyond the boundaries of their own farm and county, and even reaches well outside of their state, as associations are formed with other farmer cooperatives in joint ventures to explore and promote the co-op way of doing business.

The Tennessee Farmers Co-op is a farm supply cooperative with 53 member organizations across the state, made up of independent, local businesses. Bart Krisle, CEO of the Tennessee Farmers Cooperative, joined us live in studio to give us a better understanding of the important role that co-ops all across the country have in serving the farm community and how co-ops have evolved to serve producers in this ever-changing agri-business climate.
