Farmers' Almanac predicts "polar coaster" winter in 2020

Farmers' Almanac predicts "polar coaster" winter in 2020

Posted: Updated:

The Farmers' Almanac says it is going to be a winter full of up and down temperatures or as they dubbed it, a "polar coaster."

“Our extended forecast is calling for yet another freezing, frigid, and frosty winter for two-thirds of the country,”  Editor Peter Geiger said.

The Midwest, Great Lakes and Northeast regions can expect a late start to spring because of a lingering winter. The Farmers' Almanac predicts there will be more snow than usual in these regions and that the Northern Plains and the Northeast will have especially cold winters. In Texas, temperatures are expected to be chilled but with average precipitation.

In the Southeast, things are expected to be brisk and wet, continuing the trend of above average precipitation and below average temperatures across the East Coast.

The West Coast is the only region not expected to be hit by the "polar coaster" in 2020 as temperatures are supposed to be just a little chillier than usual.
