Maintaining the status quo for waterway infrastructure could cost 72 billion dollars in lost opportunities.
A new report from the USDA Ag Marketing Service shows barge delays increased from 35% in 2010 to 49% in 2017, adding to shipping costs and preventing new growth. The study concludes U.S waterways need major rehabilitation to be restored to full capacity.
