"Seinfeld" coming to Netflix in 2021

Score one for Netflix in the streaming wars.

After losing the rights to "The Office," earlier this year, Netflix has landed one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, "Seinfeld." 

The streaming giant agreed to a deal with Sony Pictures Television, who controls the the show's distribution, Monday and now all 180 episodes will be available on Netflix beginning in 2021. 

“Seinfeld’ is a one-of-a-kind, iconic, culture-defining show,” Sony Pictures Television Chairman Mike Hopkins said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times. “Now, 30 years after its premiere, ‘Seinfeld’ remains center stage. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Netflix to bring this beloved series to current fans and new audiences around the globe.”

Netflix bid more than $500 million to beat out the likes of Hulu, Amazon, WarnerMedia, NBCUniversal and Viacom, The deal lasts five years. 

Seinfeld aired on NBC from 1989-1998 and ranks as the No. 1 primetime TV show of all time, according to Nielsen.
