Tennessee funeral home invites public to ceremony for unclaimed veteran

A funeral home near in Tennessee has invited the public to a ceremony for an Air Force veteran who has no known living family. 

Lyndon Badgett, an Air Forrce vet, lived at the Tennessee State Veterans' Home in Clarksville, Tennessee, about 45 miles outside of Nashville. 

"While we do not know the story behind this individual or the events that brought him to this ending of his life, we do know that he served his country and he deserves an honorable burial," the funeral home said on Facebook. "Gateway Funeral Home and Cremation Center is honored to be able to provide a proper tribute to a deceased veteran."

Badgett will receive military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force and the Patriot Guard has also agreed to attend. 

The service will be held at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery (7931 McCrory Ln, Nashville, TN 37221) at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19.
