A 19-year-old man died in East Texas Thursday after he was electrocuted trying to save his horse in Tropical Storm Imelda.

Hunter Morrison's death was reported to authorities by his family at around 12:30 p.m.

"Right now my family and I are going through one of the most horrific times in our lives with losing Hunter," a statement from a member of Morrison's family read. "Thank you for all the kind words and phone calls I have received over the past 8 hours."

During Imelda sustained winds reached more than 40 miles per hour and the "life-threatening amounts of rain" had fallen, according to the National Weather Service.

Morrison's death was one of two related to the storm, the other was a man in his 40s or 50s who drowned.

Authorities say there have been more than 1,000 high-water rescues.
