Less Snowfall Predicted for Western U.S.

Posted: Updated:

The western U.S. could see less snow in the second half of this century.

A study led by the University Of Idaho, says low snow years, may become six times more common in the west. One student researcher recently published her findings and says though snowpack historically peaks in April, between 2050 and 2079, it will peak in March.

"Our findings are that we can expect especially bad snow years to happen multiple years in a row much more frequently in the future." Adrienne Marshall

Marshall says its important farmers and those who live off the land talk with scientists about how this reduced snowpack could impact operations into the future.
