The FDA is expanding its recall of blood pressure medications due to contamination from a cancer-causing compound.
The recall targets an additional three lots of Losartan Potassium Tablets USP and 2 lots of Losartan Potassium/Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets, USP, both generic drugs made by Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited.
Patients who are currently taking the recalled medications should contact their pharmacist or physician who can advise them about alternative treatments. They are encouraged to not stop taking the medication beforehand, as the risk of harm to the patient’s health may be higher if the medication is stopped immediately.
