Dog Food Probe Impacts Commodity Market

A pet food probe threatens domestic markets for U.S. pulse growers.

Politico reports that last year the food and drug administration launched an investigation after finding links between grain-free pet foods and heart disease in dogs. The agency issued public warnings and as a result, manufacturers bought less ingredients like peas, lentils, and garbanzo beans. Farmers say the investigation, coupled with Indian and Chinese tariffs have lowered their wholesale prices.
