New Bill Makes Rural Mental Health A Priority

A U.S. Senator announces a bill to help farmers manage their mental health.

Senator Jon Tester’s measure would provide the Department Of Agriculture employees voluntary stress management training, create a partnership with the Department Of Health for a $3 million dollar public awareness campaign, and direct the agriculture secretary to create a mental health task force.’

Data from the Centers for Disease Control shows the suicide rate is 45 percent higher in rural America than in urban areas.
