The Illinois Farm Bureau shared some reminders on Facebook about rural road safety during the harvest that can be applied not just to Illinois, but in rural communities around the country. 

"During planting and harvesting season, motorists will encounter more large and slow moving vehicles on the road," () said. "Quickly approaching a piece of farm machinery increases your likelihood of getting in an accident." 

The Illinois Farm Bureau encouraged motorists to learn to recognize lights on farm machinery, slow down because farmers can have trouble seeing approaching vehicles, pay attention to farm vehicles' wide turns. 

The organization also shared advice on passing farm vehicles.
