EU Products Face U.S. Tariffs Today

Posted: Updated:

A number of European ag products face U.S. tariffs starting today.

After winning a ‘subsidies case’ with world trade organization, the U.S. has the green-light to impose 25 percent duties on 7 and a half-billion dollars worth of goods like cheese, ham, and olives, and a 10 percent tariff on 'Airbus planes.'

President Donald Trump says the U.S. has every right to take action against the bloc. According to Politico, Italy’s President wants to negotiate with Trump to avoid retaliatory tariffs, saying it could lead to a trade war.

The EU has not announced a retaliation plan.
