Snow storms delayed harvest; spark yield loss in North Dakota

North Dakota’s governor signs an executive order declaring a statewide flood emergency after a recent freeze & blizzard in the northern plains.

The early winter storm delayed harvest and now sparks worry over yield loss but it will take time to know how much impact the freeze had on crops.

University of Illinois Economist Scott Irwin shares his estimates from a market standpoint. Dr. Irwin says that could mean an uptick in prices, but there’s some evidence of good corn yields in parts of Iowa and some areas of Illinois.
