The world’s oldest commissioned warship that is still afloat celebrated its 222nd birthday.

The USS Constitution sailed from Charleston Navy Yard to Fort Independence to fire a 21-gun a salute to celebrate its birthday on Oct. 21.

The ship, nicknamed Old Ironsides, will fire another salute as it passes Coast Guard Sector Boston. The ship was built in Boston in 1797.

Old Ironsides, whose nickname honors the ship’s proud performance in the War of 1812, boasts being the oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat.

The are still 80 active-duty sailors aboard the USS Constitution.
