Texas expands citrus greening quarantine

Texas expands its citrus greening quarantine area.

Brazoria and Galveston counties are now in the quarantined region which includes more than two dozen counties in the state. The act restricts the movement of plant materials that are affected by the disease. One horticulture agent says everyone, including the general public, ‘needs to take precautions’ to prevent the spread.

Citrus greening has been a problem in other states. It cost Florida’s industry more than 8 billion dollars in 2017.
