South Dakota opposes hemp production as USDA finalizes program
The USDA recently published an interim rule finalizing the U.S. domestic hemp production program but some states still oppose the crop, like South Dakota.
Governor Kristi Noem says her staff has been looking through more than 150 pages of information to determine how the new rule will impact the state. She opposes legalizing it due to the potential issues with public safety & law enforcement.
Noem went on to say she doesn't want South Dakota to end up like other states that have already legalized it and are now having to throw out countless marijuana cases.
