British rocker Rod Stewart has just finished up a project that has nothing to do with music. After 23 years, he has completed a large model train set based on postwar Manhattan.

The model features bridges, buildings, houses and very impressive landscape. In its entirety it is 23 feet wide and 124 feet long.

“A lot of people laugh at it being a silly hobby, but it’s a wonderful hobby,” Stewart said to BBC Radio. “I would say 90 percent of it I built myself. The only thing I wasn’t very good at and still am not is the electricals, so I had someone else do that.”

According to United Kingdom-based magazine Railway Modeller, Steward would spend time in hotels working on the model while touring, calling the process "addictive."

The full model is on display in his Beverly Hills home.
