Household brands may fail palm oil pledge

Household companies update their pledges to curb forest destruction linked to palm oil.

In 2010, global household brands that buy and use palm oil agreed to ensure their supplies did not contribute to deforestation within ten years.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation asked members again if they were sticking to their same pledge and if it would be met. Cargill, Nestle, and Kellogg’s say they may fail to meet the goal, General Mills says it achieved its goal, Johnson & Johnson, and Mars say they are on track.
