Meteor shower this Thursday to produce over 400 meteors!

Posted: Updated:

This Thursday night, a meteor shower is set to occur, producing over 400 meteors per hour!

The shower, known as the Alpha Monocerotids, is set to come through right above the horizon in the southeastern sky. According to scientists at NASA’s Ames Research Center, up to 400 shooting stars can be seen within a matter of 30 minutes, but this shower has been inconsistent in visibility in years past.

To view the shower, you’ll need a telescope or a good pair of binoculars. You’ll want to get away from bright city lights and find a slightly elevated spot. Peak time is around 11:50 p.m. ET, but it’s a good idea to get out about a half-hour beforehand.

If you get pictures of this meteor shower, we’d love to see them! Send your photos to socialmedia@rfdtv.com or share them with us on Facebook and Twitter!
