The White House is ringing in the holiday season with a patriotic theme this year.

First Lady Melania Trump tweeted:

In the East Wing, visitors are greeted with a Gold Star family tree, decorated with stars and patriotic ribbons to honor the Gold Star families. The official White House Tree, this year from Pennsylvania, is more than 18 ft tall and decorated with handmade paper flowers to represent the state flowers from each state and territory.

In the State Dining Room, gingerbread houses of the South Portico of the White House and various national landmarks are proudly displayed.

“When I travel the country, I am inspired by the hard-working people and families that I meet,” Melania said in a statement. “No matter which state they call home, many Americans share a strong set of values and deep appreciation for the traditions and history of our great nation. Thank you to all of the staff and volunteers who worked to make sure the People’s House was ready for Christmas. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”
