Florida resident Christopher Montijo wanted to join the United States Army however, there was one issue, he was close to 150 pounds over the weight limit.

That didn't deter the 28-year-old father of two. Instead he persevered and lost 180 pounds, putting him well under the threshold to serve.

He told WOFL in Orlando that before he lost the weight it was draining to just about anything and he knew he had to make a major life change for his children's sake.

He lost the weight mainly by cutting out soda and eating out as well as walking. He passed the the Army's physical fitness test and will report to Fort Jackson at the beginning of 2020 for basic training.
