After winning Round 2 in barrel racing, Dona Kay Rule was not done yet. The 61-year-old had the best ride of the rodeo with a blistering barrel racing time of 13.56 seconds Monday night.

“Unbelievable,” she said. “You’re so incredibly proud of all the girls who do that, and Valor (her horse) did it. So, I’m sure tickled....Being first on the ground and not having to go behind 15 of the toughest horses there are and have them power the dirt out is a good deal.”

Rule, making her first NFR appearance, has now won more than $78,000 through five rounds. She sits at No. 6 in the world standings.

Round 3 winner Amberleigh Moore finished second Monday with a ride of 13.63 seconds. Thanks to more than $88,000 in NFR earnings she sits third in the world standings behind Emily Miller and Hailey Kinsel, who is now within $2,500 of the first-place Miller.
