Thanks to the fastest run of this year’s finals (3.40 seconds), Stetson Jorgensen won his first career NFR go-round buckle in steer wrestling Wednesday night.

“Knowing I had a good steer like that with my horse working food, I knew I had a good shot tonight. That victory lap was pretty awesome. Watching NFR when I was 10 or 12, I always wanted to be here and making that victory lap was an accomplishment and a dream come true.”

The win moved Jorgensen into fifth in the world standings, within $35,000 of first-place Ty Erickson. Erickson tied for third Wednesday with J.D. Struxness and Matt Reeves. The trio posted runs of 3.90. Tyler Pearson finished second with a time of 3.80.
