U.S. tractor sales up 12% in April, combine sales up 4%

According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturer’s monthly “Flash Report,” the sale of all tractors in the U.S. in 2020, were up 12% in April compared to the same time last year.

For the year, a total of 73,429 tractors were sold which compares to 73,893 sold in 2019.

For the month of April, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) were up 16% from last year, while 40 & under 100 HP were up 6%. Sales of 2-wheel drive 100+ HP were down 10%, while 4-wheel drive tractors were down 7%.

For the year, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) were even with last year, while 40 & under 100 HP are down 3%. Sales of 2-wheel drive 100+ HP are down 4%, while 4-wheel drive tractors are down 7%.

Combine sales were up 4% for the month. Sales of combines for the year totaled 1,304 compared to 1,461 in 2019, an 11% decrease.
