Horse therapy helping people of all ages in Virginia

Horseback riding is a popular sport for people of all ages, and people all around Virginia have found riding to be their sanctuary.

From special needs students to combat veterans, many have found a connection to horses through therapy.

Jason Hogancamp served overseas Iraq and Bosnia and upon returning home from combat, he rediscovered the bond he had with horses he had when he was younger.

“I lost that ability to communicate effectively with people,” he said. “The horse lives in a silent world, that’s something from my childhood I remembered, the horses being able to communicate with one another without saying anything and I wasn’t really keen on talking or being able to express my feelings to anybody, so I started working with horses again in 2001 or 2002......I really started trying to find myself again.
