The hard work of farmers fills up every slice of your favorite pizza pie. Now, Domino’s is delivering those farm fresh ingredients to doorsteps with a little help from robots. The pizza chain debuted the bot on social media:
The pizza chain teamed up tech company, Nuro, for the project. Nuro developed the first autonomous, human -free on-road delivery vehicle approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Domino’s said.
Customers that place an online order can opt to have the robot car deliver their pizza. You can track your order with GPS, and you will get a text alert when it arrives. Right now, the bot only delivers in Houston, but the company hopes to roll it out in more communities soon.
This isn’t Domino’s first time using autonomous deliveries. In 2017, the company used a self-driving Ford Fusion hybrid to deliver pizzas in Ann Arbor, Michigan. And in 2013, Domino’s tested a pizza delivery by drone in Britain.
Domino’s has been a long-time supporter of farmers.
