British farmers unable to capitalize on most lucrative part of hemp plant

UK farmers are at a disadvantage in the CBD oil industry compared to U.S. and EU producers.

British farmers can grow industrial hemp for its fibers and is being used for construction materials, animal feed, biofuel, and a plant-based alternative plastic-- but the leaves and flowers, the most lucrative parts of the plant, have to be destroyed.

This is where CBD can be extracted, which would increase the value of the crop. Hemp farmers also have to have a cultivation license, because it contains a regulated chemical.

The crop’s potential will be discussed at an upcoming event on May 12th.
