Cargill set to grow global demand for canola with new facility

Cargill unveils plans for a new canola processing facility in Saskatchewan. The $350 million dollar project aims to support growing global demand.

President of Cargill Canada, Jeff Vassart speaks with RFD-TV’s own Tammi Arender on the new facility and how it will better support global demand.

According to Vassart, “With the customers that we serve internationally... the canola’s reputation as a healthy, sustainable food crop continues to be expanded, and so, we see growing demand... certainly into Japan, China for food purposes, as well as other countries around the world. But, clearly, there is increasing demand for renewable diesel, as well too, and canola oil will play a really important role as a feedstock as we move to that as a fuel source. This plant really positions us to serve all of those customers that we work with internationally and really think that it’s a great addition for farmers in the area to have another value-added processing plant for them to deliver into.”
