Many of you have probably heard of country music singer, and Songwriter Hall of Famer, Bill Anderson. This month he celebrates 60 years as a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
There is an electricity that fills the room when the curtains go up at the Grand Ole Opry. On this night it was even more so.
A packed house on hand to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Bill Anderson being a member of this legendary institution.
Anderson has had hit songs on the radio as a songwriter in every decade. From “City Lights” to “Once a Day” by Connie Smith, “Two Tear Drops” by Steve Wariner, “Whiskey Lullaby” by Brad Paisley and Alison Kraus, “Give It Away” by George Strait, “Which Bridge to Cross” by Vince Gill-- too many to mention.
Anderson is seen often on RFD-TV through Country Family Reunion. Showing his talent not only as a singer but a TV host as well. Anderson hosted his own national TV show from 1965 to 1974.
On this July night at the Opry, Vince Gill, Sara Evans, Mark Wills, and Jeanie Sealy all pay homage to the country music legend. Bill wrote a very personal song called “Thankful For This Occasion” and there was hardly a dry eye in the auditorium.
