Meat Export Federation discusses the ripple effects being felt by west coast port logjam

Congestion at California ports is starting to ease, but the problem is spilling into other areas. The Marine Exchange says, at its peak, 92 ships were waiting outside of LA and Long Beach.

That number is down to 62, but the group reports that Seattle is struggling with available yard capacity and waiting times are as high as 12 days to secure berth space. Port stays are up from three days to seven.

Travis Arp with the U.S. Meat Export Federation spoke with RFD-TV’s own Tammi Arender on the ripple effects, possible contributing factors, and what the timeline for resolution may look like.
