Is “federal cattle reform” legislation in jeopardy?

Members of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association have officially opposed mandates of cash cattle trade.

Wednesday’s vote was overwhelmingly in opposition, with only a few members from midwestern states in favor of the mandates. The majority of members want to preserve the producer’s freedom in how they market their cattle.

The board is expected to ratify the decision at their meeting later today. The move puts “federal cattle reform” legislation in jeopardy, as Farm Bureau is already on record as opposing that portion of the bill.
