Richard Childress, a NASCAR Hall of Fame owner and former driver, is pledging one million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine to help them against the Russian invasion.
Recently, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he would rather have ammunition to help fight off the Russian invasion than assistance in leaving the country. It appears that Childress wants to answer that request.
“I called my good friend Fred Wagenhals, who is the chairman of Ammo, Inc.... I said, “Fred, we gotta help these people. They need ammunition,” he told Fox and Friends.
Childress is on the board of directors for Ammo, Inc., a U.S.-based ammunition company.
“We have to do all we can, and I felt with Ammo Inc. and myself, we were doing the right thing,” Childress stated, according to Yahoo! Sports. “We’re going to get the ammunition to them as quickly as we can.”
However, the logistics of when and how the delivery will be made are still being worked out.
“While we fervently hope for a quick and peaceful resolution to the crisis and that diplomacy will win the day, we condemn the Russian aggression and its threat to Ukraine’s territorial integrity and freedom. We recognize that events are unfolding rapidly on the ground in Ukraine, and we are prepared to move quickly as possible to support Ukraine as it continues to defend itself and its freedom,” Wagenhals stated in a press release, WSET reports.
