Secretary Naig Weighs In On HPAI Spread

The poultry industry has now lost nearly three million birds due to high pathogenic avian influenza. The disease has been confirmed in more than a dozen states in the last month and is now spreading in the midwest.

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig spoke with RFD-TV’s Suzanne Alexander about his concerns for the industry as Iowa is the number one poultry producing state, if there could be any ripple effects if cases continue to rise, why poultry exports have not been banned yet, if there is any efforts to address the current cases in the state and what safety protocols farmers need to put into practice.
