HPAI hits Iowa again, forcing 5.3 million chickens and 88,000 turkeys to be culled

High path avian influenza has hit Iowa again, and more than 5,000,000 birds and 88,000 turkeys will be culled as a result.

The virus has spread across half of the country, and farmers have had to kill roughly 23,000,000 birds.

Iowa accounts for more than half of those cases, and it is the nation’s leading egg producer.
