Retail meat sales remain higher than pre-pandemic levels. According to IRI, a market research company, the average price per pound in the meat department was up 13 percent in March versus last year.

On the fresh meat side, pork and beef both saw double-digit increases on the year.

Overall, when you remove inflation, the retail supply chain moved nearly 2.5 percent more pounds this March than it did prior to the pandemic.
