The ag supply chain is likely to be worse by harvest. That is according to an ag economist with University of Missouri.
He says that even though costs are high and supplies are tight, demand is strong. That makes the tight shipping situation even worse.
Normally, this time of year, shippers take a breather before the busy harvest season, followed by the holidays, but everyone is playing catch up. On top of that, steel prices are so high that some companies are scrapping their plans to build more shipping containers.
