An unknown disease outbreak has killed several wild horses at a BLM facility

A disease outbreak is killing dozens of wild horses at a Bureau of Land Management facility in Colorado. Nearly 70 horses have died since Saturday.

The Bureau says it is working with local, state and federal officials to find the cause and to determine how they can respond as effectively as possible. They say most of the horses were gathered from the West Douglas area last fall.

The Bureau is currently embarking on a record roundup of wild horses in the Western U.S.
