Keep your farm dog safe during the heat

We have been hearing stories about how the heat wave is impacting crops and livestock, but it can also be a threat to our beloved farm dogs.

A veterinarian with USDA’s APHIS shares what to look out for as your companion helps you with chores on your operation: “excessive panting, excessive drooling, and possibly difficulty breathing.”

As symptoms get worse, he says that vomiting or trouble walking can occur. In extreme cases, sudden collapses or even seizures can happen.
