Congressmen introduce amendment to H-2A

A last minute amendment would allow year-round farm workers through the H-2A visa program.

Congressmen Henry Cuellar and Dan Newhouse added the amendment to expand status beyond seasonal work. The amendment will likely get struck during the appropriations process though, as all previous versions were dropped during negotiations with the Senate.

The House Appropriations Chair opposed the amendment saying that it would “fundamentally alter the H-2A visa program.
