Texas growers are preparing for a blast of cold air, freezing temperatures

The Rio Grande Valley could see some of the coldest temperatures it has experienced in years, as a blast of cold air is set to bring near freezing temperatures over the weekend.

President of Texas Citrus Mutual, Dale Murden speaks with RFD-TV’s own Christina Loren on the current conditions in the region, the impact on agriculture, and preparation.

“For citrus it is a two fold issue, actually three fold, because February and March is when we start to bloom and start to grow next years crop, so you got a lot of little, tinder fruit and flowers out there right now that are subject to real damage if it comes to past,” Murden states.
