The farm economy is in a slump, according to the Fed

The farm economy has weakened across much of the U.S. lately, but several areas have seen conditions improve.

Economists at the University of Illinois found the farm economy has stabilized in the Midwest and Northern Plains, but has fallen in all other areas. The Fed’s beige book shows ag activity has been mostly flat, with crop prices still uncomfortably low.

Farmer sentiment is also in a slump. AgriNews found farmer sentiment about the ag economy has reached its lowest levels since 2016.
