It is business as usual for one Ukrainian farmer who tragically lost his leg during the war with Russia.

“In August 2022, we were out on a mission. At 10 am, a multiple rocket launcher GRAD hit us. I instantly lost one leg, and another was severely wounded. I wanted to get up, but there was nothing to stand on. In an hour, I was already in surgery”

This brave man’s name is Vadym Medvid. His mother dreamed of her son becoming a veterinarian. And so it happened. But he dreamed of working for the Kernel agricultural company.
At the end of 2021, he joined the company as a tractor driver, but unfortunately, he did not work there long. With the outbreak of a full-scale war, he volunteered for the army. Six months later, he got wounded.
Today, Vadym is back to work, though not driving a tractor. But the company found a way to keep a valuable employee productive — now Vadym is monitoring the company’s machinery operation.
“I love this job, but my soul belongs in the field, in the stepped ”
Vadym says he is pleased that he is not forgotten and is taken care of. He participates in various trainings. And he gets regular vacations. Vadym lives an active life. He does a lot of sports. In summer, he took part in the Invictus, Kyiv Unbreakable Cup, an adaptive sports competition.
He does archery, plays table tennis and works out in the gym. Vadym drives a car himself, wants to get back into a tractor and motivates other veterans not to isolate themselves.
“I am doing well now, I believe. I’m alive”
