Drought conditions appear to be subsiding across the country, but that does not mean some states are out of the woods quite yet.
“We’re actually seeing our two worst categories of drought either D3 or D4 in 21 of the 50 U.S. states. Now, many of those, it’s just a fractional bit of coverage, but we do see at least 10% coverage of extreme to exceptional drought D3 and D4 in a number of states across Montana, Wyoming, and Arizona coming in, all at more than 10%. As we move to the Great Plains, we see more than 10% coverage in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Texas is tops for that region at 13% as we head into early December,” said Brad Rippey.
Those conditions had been tough on commodities like winter wheat, but Rippey says the crops made quite the recovery.
