A 74-foot spruce will soon be making the long journey from Alaska to the nation’s Capitol.
This year’s Capitol Christmas Tree comes from the Tongass National Forest, some 3,000 miles from Washington, D.C. Each year, there is usually a tour of the area the Capitol tree comes from, but given the distance from Washington, that will not be possible. The tree will move from the forest to Washington state via barge, and from there, will travel the rest of the way by truck.
The tree will arrive on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol building some time next month.
