“We’re as prepared as we can be": The Carolinas still are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Debby

Lingering storms from what is left of Hurricane Debby are bringing rain to the Carolinas.

North Carolina’s Ag Commissioner says that their biggest concern has not been flooding, but tornadoes.

According to Steve Troxler, “We do have reports of the turkey farm in Greene County and the broiler farm in Greene County being hit by tornadoes and the extent of the damage is not completely known yet, but we do know that there are some turkeys that have got loose out of one of the houses that was damaged and we’re trying to help the company wound them up and get them back undercover. And unfortunately, we’ve had a lot of experience with situations like this, and preparedness is the key and I think we’re as prepared as we can be.”

The Tarheel State is no stranger to impactful storms.
The bright side is that it has forced them to learn how best to prepare their ag industry to recover.
